Forest School

Mrs Flaherty delivers our Forest School programme on 'Forest Thursday'.  She is our Level 3 Forest School practitioner trained member of staff and is extremely passionate about Forest School delivery.

When it is your child's turn to enjoy Forest School, they will need appropriate clothing for the outdoors and the elements.

In colder weather children will need;

  • A long sleeved T-shirt / top
  • Warm over layers - jumper / fleece / sweatshirt etc
  • Warm trousers
  • 2 pairs of socks or one pair of thick socks
  • Warm gloves
  • A warm hat
  • Scarf
  • Ear muffs
  • Waterproof trousers & jacket / puddle suit is provided for our EYFS children
  • Wellington boots / sturdy walking shoes

A key part of Forest School is enjoying the outdoor environment come rain or shine so please ensure your child has warm clothing and appropriate footwear or wellies for often very muddy learning!

We currently deliver Forest School/ outdoor learning sessions to EYFS, Year 3 and Year4. We are looking to expand this offer across the school in the coming terms!

For more information on the philosophy of Forest Schools please see the Forest School Association page below

    https://forestschoolassociation.org

The Forest School Association describes Forest school as

"A child-centred inspirational learning process, that offers opportunities for holistic growth through regular sessions. It is a long-term program that supports play, exploration and supported risk taking. It develops confidence and self-esteem through learner inspired, hands-on experiences in a natural setting."

The philosophy of Forest School at Mosley is to encourage and inspire individuals of any age to learn new experiences in the outdoors. Children will be encouraged to discover, explore, observe and question what they find in our outdoor learning environment. Sessions are child led, but may have a theme which can be linked to the National Curriculum learning.
